Catherine Carlock
ROCK SPRING Catherine "Katie" Carlock, 85, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013. She was born in Rock Spring on Dec. 31, 1927 to the late James Fred and Bessie Carlock. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School and worked for the U.S. Naval Torpedo Station in Alexandria, VA during World War II. She moved to Texas and worked for a newspaper for several years and she retired from White Swan Corp. receiving numerous awards for her achievements. She enjoyed the Texas coast where she loved fishing and golfing. She was also an avid Dallas Cowboys' fan having known all of the players and the positions they played.She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Juanita Ukena, Bill Carlock, Mary Doyle, and Frank "Pete" Carlock.Survivors include her brothers and sisters, J.D. (Nina) Carlock, of Celina, TX, Jack (Virginia) Carlock, of Fredericksburg, Va., Alice Hatch, of Ringgold, and Jessie Crawford, of Fort Oglethorpe; and several nieces and nephews.The family would like to extend a very special thank you for the love shown to Katie from the wonderful caring people at Our Country Home and Life Choice Hospice.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 16, at 10 a.m. at the Rock Spring Cemetery with Chaplains Marv Eskew and Ricky Studdard officiating.Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
