John Bettis Jr.

John Weldon Bettis, Jr., 68, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas and was of the Christian faith. He was an Army Veteran having been stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War and enjoyed riding horses, bird watching and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Weldon Bettis Sr. and Betty Jane Bettis; and two brothers, Michael Steven Bettis and Zeno William Bettis. Survivors include his two brothers, Daniel Lee Bettis Sr., of Rossville, and Grady Edwin Bettis Sr., of Florida; two sisters, Wilma Forster, of Rossville, and Ruby Virginia Bettis, of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Chaplain Mark Atwood, Captain Ronald Forster and Brother William "Bill" Sandberg officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends after 3 p.m. today and prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
