Julius Kindervate

r Julius "Jake" Kindervater, 93, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at his home after a short illness. Born on July 4 in Roanoke, Va., Jake was a true firecracker. Stationed in England and Germany during World War II, he returned after four years service back to his hometown Elizabethtown, Ky. He relocated with his family to Chattanooga in 1971 to work at Tennessee Trailers. Jake always loved to travel; together with his wife Tibby making friends wherever they went in America and abroad. Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Capt. William and Ella Roddy Kindervater; wife, Gladys "Tibby"; son, Craig; three brothers, William, Robert and Neal; sister, Christine; niece, Joyce; and nephew, William. He is survived by son, Kent (Britta) Kindervater; grandson, Lucas, Chattanooga; stepson, James (Linda) Troy, Etown, Ky.; granddaughter, Jamie Williams and family, Andover, Kan.; sister, Carolyn Dupuy, Tampa, Fla.; and 17 nieces and nephews with their families throughout the USA. Funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb, 14, followed by interment with military honors at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 13, at Advantage Funeral Cremation Services, 1724 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
