Joanne Rodgers

Joanne Drennen Rodgers, 79, passed away on Tuesday March 18, 2014, at her home. She was a resident of Chattanooga, but also enjoyed traveling to her cabin at Nantahala Lake in North Carolina. Born in McMinnville, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Ed and Bertha Drennen. Mrs. Rodgers was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga, receiving her masters degree in teaching from Duke University. She taught for many years at Brainerd High School, Cleveland State, and the School of Arts & Sciences. She was of the United Methodist faith, having attended First Centenary, Brainerd, Harrison and White Oak United Methodist Churches. A beloved wife and mother, she will be greatly missed by her surviving family, husband, Charles Rodgers; son, William Rodgers; and sister, Martha Dietzen. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, March 20, 2014, at Forest Hills Cemetery with Rev. Lyle White officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
