Edward Skwiot

Edward Zigmund Skwiot, 82 of Meriden, Conn., died on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at his home in Trenton, Ga. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Skwiot was a member of Holy Cross Church in New Britian, Conn. He was graduate of New Britain High School and attended Central Connecticut State University. He worked in construction for many years before teaching at H.C. Wilcox Technical School until he retired in 1992. He had a passion for Bluegrass music, played multiple instruments and enjoyed his jam sessions at various venues in both Chattanooga and Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Valeria Switaj Skwiot; and siblings Joe, Stanley, Walter, Zigmund, Genevieve Stewart, Florence Little and Charlotte Doria. He is survived by his wife Doris Bell Skwiot; his children, Paul, Karl, David and Noel, of Connecticut and Maxine Baldyga, of New Hampshire; his stepchildren, Michael Bell, of Chattanooga, Patrick Bell, of Trenton, Ga., and Jennifer Bell Peeker, of Atlanta, Ga.; ten grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren, three great-stepgrandchildren; his sister, Theresa Lerner, of Hollywood, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 S. Moore Road with the Rev. Annette Flynn officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Monday.
