Dixon Nichols

Walter Dixon Nichols, 80, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015. A native of Young Harris, Gea., he has lived in the Ringgold area for most of his life. He was a former employee of Shaw Industries where he worked for 15 years and was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Oliver and Ida Bell Powell Nichols; and four brothers, Vic, Paul, Carlton and Leroy Nichols. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn "Kathy" Ann Hill Nichols, of Ringgold; four children, Ricky Nichols, of Ringgold, Debbie (Daniel) Defore, of Rossville, Beverly (John) Mullins, of Ringgold, and Greg (Gayle) Nichols, of Ringgold; stepdaughter, Kim Anglin of Chickamauga, Ga.; sister, Elsie Jean (Vernon) Gregory, of Summerville, Ga.; two brothers, Dan (Betty) Nichols, of Young Harris, Ga., and Doug (Phyllis) Nichols, of Ringgold, Ga.; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Roy Gentry Jr. officiating. Interment will follow 5:30 p.m. Sunday at West Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Young Harris, Ga. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday until funeral time at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Wallis-Stewart Chapel, Ringgold, Ga.
