William Harvey Chandler, 66, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, in a local hospital. Mr. Chandler was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps where he served during Vietnam and was the recipient of several decorations, including the Purple Heart. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, wood working, the Tennessee Vols, cooking, and being in the outdoors. Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Frances Chandler; sisters, Sharon Chandler and JoAnn Westbrook; and brother, James Berry. Survivors include his three children, James Chandler, Poppy (Wayne) Meece, and Ginger (Mike) Ferguson; grandchildren, Melissa (Brett) Bacon, Paul Ferguson, Bailey, Casey, Jack, and Sarah Chandler, Meghan and Blaine Phillips; sister, Margaret Harold; brothers, Kenneth, Tommy, and Jerry Chandler; several nieces and nephews; special dog, Jarhead. Funeral services will be held Monday at noon in the South Crest Chapel with Brother Joel Germany officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.
