Billie Dean
Billie Frances McBee Dean, 90, of Red Bank, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, following an extended illness.
Billie was born in Birmingham, Ala. to William T. McBee and Frances Gertrude Agerton. Although born right before the
Depression, her life was full of joy and love, and she grew up within a large, yet
close-knit family. She married and moved to Chattanooga in 1950. She joined Northside Presbyterian Church soon after and made life-long friends both there and in the neighborhood. She was a stay-at-home mother of two, always very
involved in school and church activities.
In 1967, she began a 25-year career as a Billing Clerk at U.S. Pipe and Foundry. After retirement, she enjoyed outings with friends, Church and Circle activities, being a volunteer at Memorial Heart Institute, being able to travel, but mostly having time to read the hundreds of books she had on hand.
She is survived by her two children, Paul (Jenette) and Rebecca, all of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and three grandchildren she adored, William, Patrick, both of
Chattanooga, Tenn., and Kaitlyn, Knoxville, Tenn.
The family would like to thank Mom’s caretakers at Lifecare of Hixson, especially Melissa and David. We
appreciate your care and kindness over the last several years. And thank you to
Steve and Tammy at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, for your kindness and
gentle assistance to the family.
A memorial service will be held at Northside Presbyterian Church, 923
Mississippi Avenue, Chattanooga, TN, on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Northside Learning
Center or the Salvation Army.
