James Belk

James W. Belk passed away Sept. 11, 2017, at Hospice care center in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was a veteran of The U.S. Army serving in Baumholder, Germany. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 29 1/2 years of service. A member of Baptist Hill Church of Jasper, Tenn., where he had served as Sunday school teacher, Deacon, Training Union Director and youth director. Buddy was a kind and loving husband, father, and paw-paw. He will be sadly missed by many people he touched along the way. He will be remembered for his smile and sense of humor and making people smile. He was preceded in death by infant son, William Stanley Belk; mother and father, Claude and Penney Belk; sister, Nancy Dalton. He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Ann Dalton Belk; daughter, Sharon Lynne (Jim) Davis; son, Jeffery Lamar Belk; grandson, Andy (Krissi) Rector; great-grandchildren, Kaleigh and Elijah Rector; sister, Polly Taylor; brother, Donald Belk. Visitation will be today, Sept. 13, 2017, from 3 to 8 p.m. CST. Funeral services will be conducted from the Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at 4 p.m. CST with Bro. Steve Sellers and Bro. Roger Webb will be officiating. There will be full military honors presented to the family by The Sequatchie Valley Honor Guards. Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens. Thanks to Amedisys Hospice employees Mia and Vickie and Chattanooga Hospice Brandy, Mary Ann, Diane and Brenda.
