Louise Miller

Annie Louise Freeman Miller, 96, passed away at her home on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018. Louise was born in Greensboro, N.C. on Nov. 12, 1921, to Jesse and Cloie Freeman. She grew up on a farm in Greensboro, married her husband Austin at the age of 19, and they had four children. The family lived in Greensboro, High Point, and Newton, N.C. before moving to Chattanooga. Louise will be remembered by all that knew her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and friend. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 52, but she never let the disease slow her down. She fought her disease valiantly until the end. She was known for her incredible inner strength, determination, her positive outlook on life, and the beautiful smile that she always wore on her face. She was loved by everyone that knew her. The family would like to give special thanks to Jackie Ahern, Sonia Bible, Josh Youngman and the staff at Hearth Hospice, and Dr. Sharon Farber for the constant and loving care. Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Austin; her daughters Dianne Boyd and Carole Eckard, and a grandson, Jeffery Rogers. She is survived by her son Larry Miller and his wife Maria, her daughter Susan English and husband Bill; her grandchildren Kimberly Boyd Balla (William), David Boyd (Amanda), Kristin Rogers Cocks (Chad), Lorrie Miller, Lisa Gothard (Troy), Lee Miller, and Carmen Graf (Karl), many great grandchildren and her two parakeets, Sweetie Pie and Sweetie Pie. The family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 14, at 10:30 am at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Eric Duble officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Louise to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
