Harold Austin

Harold Austin, 83, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018. Harold was born on June 27, 1935, to the late Edgar and Josephine Austin in Sparta, Tenn. He worked for Tennessee Department of Transportation as the Regional Construction Engineer for 34 years, and the Hamilton County Highway Department as the Director for 28 years. He was in the Army National Guard, a 32nd degree Mason, and the Shriners. He was a member of Tyner Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his two twin sisters; and seven brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce Austin; daughter, Melanie (Steven) Austin Kempson; brother, Kelley Austin, of Sparta, Tenn.; grandson, Levi Austin Kempson; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 20, at Tyner Church of Christ with Minister John Cupp officiating. Family will receive friends prior to service from noon to 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
