George Andrew Jensen, 75, of Ooltewah, went to be with Jesus on Aug. 27, 2018 surrounded by his family. George was born on April 21, 1943 to the late Winnie Bullard Jensen of South Pittsburg and Martin Jensen of Copenhagen, Denmark. He had ten siblings, seven brothers, and three sisters. George attended Kirkman High School, Sheet Metal Trade School, Northeast Alabama Community College and Chattanooga State Community College. He was a U.S. Marine in the Vietnam War from April 18, 1966 to Feb. 20, 1970. His MOS was 0844, which was the Field Artillery Fire Control Man. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and the Presidential Unit Rifle Marksmanship Badge. George worked as a Market Manager in several grocery stores. He also worked at Combustion Engineering and Serodino Shipyard as a welder. He retired from Food Lion in 2005 as a Markey Manager. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Jean Reeves Jensen; daughter Lisa Ann Carpehart and her husband Edward Eugene Capehart Jr.; two grandsons Zachary Jensen Capehart and his wife Courtney Rose Capehart, Chandler Gage Capehart and his wife Victoria Rosita Leigh Capehart; one great-grandson Elijah Gage Capehart; and several nieces and nephews. The family will honor his life on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 at noon in funeral home chapel. Interment will follow the service in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
