Ozena Wilkerson

HENAGAR — Zadie Ozena Wilkerson Lane, 86, died Tuesday, July 10, at her residence. Funeral services are Friday at 11 a.m. ct at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bro. Darrell Sears officiating. Burial will follow in Biddle Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until service time on Friday. Survivors include husband, Clarence Nelson Lane; daughter, Lee Smith (Daniel); stepdaughter, Mary Elizabeth Lane; grandchildren, Sarah Elane Smith, Carl Detlef Smith; sister, Betty Jones; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Zadie Corbin Wilkerson; sisters, Leona Tumlin, Edith Sears; brothers, Bobby Joe, James P. and Russell Wilkerson. Mrs. Lane grew up in Henagar and graduated from Ider High School and attended Jacksonville University. She lived most of her adult life on Chattanooga, working for the Hamilton National Bank, White Star Laundry and attended 34th Street Baptist Tabernacle. After Clarence's retirement, they moved back to her childhood home and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Ozena was known by family and friends for her independent spirit and work ethic; moreover she was a woman of great faith who loved the Lord God with all of her soul.
