OC Reed

OC Simpson Reed, 95, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 9, 2018 surrounded by loving family. Born May 22, 1923 in Sweetwater, Tenn., OC was the daughter of the late John and Mattie Loretta Simpson. She was saved at the age of 15 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Chattanooga. She graduated from Central High School in 1943. She was employed at Davenport Hosiery Mill for 16 years. She then attended Kirkman Technical School and became an LPN in 1960. She was employed at Erlanger Medical Center for 27 years when she retired. OC married her husband of 51 years, Kenneth Lee Reed on June 11, 1966. She and Ken were faithful members of Elizabeth Terrace Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband and eight siblings, Clyde Simpson, Mae Buckner, Bell Baskette, Pearle Rhinehart, Johnnie Wattenbarger, Katherine Smith, Eula Bell Daugherty and Nell Skelton. OC was the youngest of nine. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend George Pinion officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens South. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Elizabeth Terrace Baptist Church Missions Fund at 600 Mohawk St. Rossville, Ga. 30741.
