Polly Kennedy

DECATUR — Polly Kennedy, 85, of Decatur passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at the Life Care Center of Hixson. She was born and raised in Meigs County and relocated to Chattanooga as an adult where she was an Executive Secretary for the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce. After retirement she returned to Meigs County. Polly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a Baptist by faith and had attended Bethsadia Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Elder and Byrd Hamilton; her husband, Martin Kennedy; her daughter, Pennye Cooper; and a step-brother, Jack Hundley. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Chrissy Kennedy of Hixson; four grandchildren, Mandie Kennedy Mathis, Justin Brown, Clay Cooper, and Chris Bell; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethsadia Cemetery fund in her memory. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with Dale Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Bethsadia Cemetery in Decatur.
