Betty Cothran

Betty Jane Cothran, 92, passed peacefully at home with her loving family by her side. Preceded in death by, husband, Roy Cothran; son, Jerry Farrow; daughters, Vicky Hodge and Debbie Farrow. Survivors include children, Penny (Louis) Clark, Andrea Watkins, Betty (Larry) Brick, Eugene Farrow, Roy Cothran Jr., April (Brent) Elliott and Bruce Cothran Sr.; Betty has brothers, sisters, 25 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren. And, of course, all the people along the way that she “unofficially adopted” that knew her as “Mom”. Betty owned Betty’s Cafe (Dodson Ave) for approx. 25 Years, then Cothran Inn for 7 years. Being in the restaurant business for many years, she was known to be an excellent cook. Betty was known for her strong will and feisty attitude, yet, a kind and caring person. She had a quick wit and a comical personality. After retiring from the restaurant business, she became an independent home health sitter. She took excellent care of the ladies she sat with. Betty was a truly unique person; she welcomed all into the family and held you close in her heart. The family would like to say a loving thank you to Judy Hartman; she stayed with the family at Betty’s side until passing. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Headrick. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, April 18, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at Hamilton Funeral Home.
