Sgt. Donald L. Fannin, 78, of Hixson, Tenn., died Thursday, April 18, 2019. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from TVA having worked for many years as a contract clerk. He was an active member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Monroe and Ovelia Patterson Fannin, and siblings, Janet Crawford, Irma Bird, Naydean Hancock, and Thurman Fannin. He is survived by his loving wife, Pauline Fannin; his daughters, Donna L. Brock of Ooltewah, Tenn., and Sandy R. Sargeant, of Rossville, Ga.; step-son, Jeffrey D. Poe, of Hixson; grandchildren, Heather Hawks and Gregory Brock, Candy James and Eric Yates, Madison and Cooper Poe; siblings, Juanita Hixson, Geneva Abercrombie, Annette Fannin, and Bobby Fannin. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. at Lupton Drive Baptist Church with Rev. Dustin Taylor and Rev. Roger DeHart, officiating. Interment with military honors will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Visitation will be at Hamilton Funeral Home in Hixson on Saturday, April 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Monday, April 22, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Lupton Drive Baptist Church.
