Edmund Brantly

DECATUR — 10/4/32 - 7/29/19 Edmund Brook Brantly was known by "Brook" growing up on Signal Mountain. He loved hiking, reading, and anything having to do with being in the woods when he was a boy. He graduated from Baylor School and attended the University of the South where he graduated in 1954. Following graduation from Sewanee he attended the University of Tennessee Medical School and finished his residency program in radiology at Vanderbilt in 1962. Brook lived all over the southeast but by far his favorite position was in later life when he "retired" to work only locum tenens positions. He worked in short term radiology settings but only where the fishing was good. He traveled to Alaska where he practiced radiology during the week and flew into the back country on the weekends to fly fish in the Alaskan streams. He worked off and on in Atlanta where most of his family settled. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Carter Clemons Brantly, daughters Catherine Brantly Ivy and Sandra Brantly Minsk, son Edmund "Brook" Brantly, III, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
