Thomas Shahan

Thomas “Tommy” Griffith Shahan, 63, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019. He was born to the late Jonathan and Doris Mae Moose Shahan in Pennsylvania, lived most of his life in the North Georgia Area and was a member of Shield Baptist Church. Tommy served his country in the U.S. Army and retired after more than 40 years as a truck driver. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, who had a servant’s heart. Tommy loved his family and church and will be greatly missed. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Shahan and Jon Shahan. Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Kathy Murphy Shahan; daughters, Rachel Shahan (Chris) McGee, Jennifer Wetzel (Brian) Hinkle, Angela Renee (Jody) Freeman and Becky (Zach) deVaux; sisters, Dottie (Melvin) Chestnut, Joanne (Clarence) Johnson and Nancy (Jim) Parrott; brothers, Dan (Judy) Shahan and Timmy Shahan; eleven grandchidren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, 2019 at Shield Baptist Church, with Pastor Tony Vona officiating. Interment will follow in the Chickamauga City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and prior to leaving for the funeral service on Monday. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home-J. Avery Bryan Chapel, Chickamauga.
