Phillip “Phil” Harden, age 90, of Chattanooga passed away Feb. 7, 2019, at his residence. A native of Chattanooga, he was educated in the local schools and graduated from Central High School. He attended Bob Jones University as a seminary student. He also attended many special education courses in banking, finance, and insurance at University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado; at the University of Oklahoma Norman OMay; and the University of Chattanooga. Phil was retired from SunTrust Bank. He was veteran serving in the 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War. He was an active member of New Heights Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ethel Jacocks Harden; one daughter, Patricia (Mike) Visage, of Chattanooga. The family will receive friends Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at 1 p.m. at New Heights Baptist Church, 158 Ooltewah Ringgold Road, Ringgold, GA 30736 with Rev. Dan Hamby and Dr. Kerry Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The family wishes to receive no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Heights Baptist Church Building Fund.
