Dean Holland

Dean Austin Holland, 93, of Signal Mountain, Tenn., passed away on Feb. 9, 2019. She was born on Jan. 3, 1926, in Johnson City, Tenn., to the late Howard and Mary Austin. She was a member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. Dean graduated from Science Hill High School and attended nursing school at Knoxville General Hospital. She was a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps and worked at Memorial Hospital for 25 years and was also the night administrator, until she retired in 1992. She will forever be remembered as a wonderful and devoted mother and grandmother “Mimi." In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her daughter Carla Holland, and her siblings. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Jeff Holland and Kim Griffin (Mike); and grandchildren, Julia Griffin and Graham Griffin. The family will have a memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association located at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, Memorial Hospital Foundation, Erlanger Foundation directed to the Believe Campaign, or a charity of your choice.
