Terry Cunningham

SOUTH PITTSBURG — Terry Edward “Skid Row" Cunningham passed away peacefully at the Nashville Bordeaux Center on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the age of 70. Born on Aug. 22, 1948, to Leroy and Lena Mae Johnson, he was a member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church in South Pittsburg. He was a graduate of McReynolds High School and in his youth served as a lifeguard at the Moore Park swimming pool. He had worked for Lodge Manufacturing and Jacobs Manufacturing and during his time at Jacobs was active with their baseball team. He once tried out for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and passionate about the Crimson Tide Football team at the University of Alabama. He also loved the outdoors and fishing and was known for always staying busy working on one project or another. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Johnson; daughter, Charlotte Hutchins; and grandchildren, Zayne Harper, Ma’Kel Hutchins, and Leah Mitchell. He is survived by his mother, Lena Mae Johnson; children, Warnette Hutchins, Perry Hutchins, Darian Clay, Tosha Harper, and Eddie Harper; special friend and companion, Sabrina Mitchell; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; twin brother, Jerry Cunningham; good friends, George Coffey, Ronald Cook, and Eddie Moore; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Central time on Saturday, July 13, 2019 with Pastor Larry Harris, officiating. Interment will follow at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, Tenn. A wake will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Central time until time of service on Saturday.
