O.C. Jolley

RINGGOLD — O.C. Jolley passed away at home on June 1, 2019, at the age of 87, surrounded by his family. Immediately, he was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus, where he will spend eternity with his heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his parents, O. C. Jolley, Sr. and Willie Mae Dorsey Jolley. Born Nov. 24, 1931, in Chattanooga, Tenn., he was raised on a large farm in Chickamauga, Ga., and graduated from Gordon Lee High School. In later years, he earned an Associate's Degree from the University of Chicago. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan W. Jolley, and children: Clint (Doris) McInnes, of Greenwood, S.C., Belinda (Rick) Glenn, of Chattanooga and Dan (Tracy) Jolley, of Ringgold. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Lucy McInnes of Indiana, Pa., Joe McInnes, of Greenwood, S.C., Elizabeth Jolley of Ft. Oglethorpe; and Rose Brown, of Chattanooga. O.C. was a very active member of Ringgold First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Boaz class. He served as a deacon and for many years as a volunteer with the Building and Grounds Committee, maintaining the church property. He also enjoyed woodworking and picture framing. He served in the U. S. Army Infantry, attached to Eilson Air Force Base near Fairbanks, Alaska, 1954-1956. He was a radio teletype operator in the Signal Corps and was Top Marksman in the unit. From the 1960s to the 1980s, O.C. volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. He served from the time his sons were Cub Scouts until they earned the rank of Eagle Scout. O.C. spent his working career first with Dupont and then with Conoco at their southeastern subsidiary, located in Chattanooga. From there he was promoted to the home office in Houston, TX, from where he retired. The family would especially like to thank Jenniffer Evans of Regency Hospice for her loving care. Pallbearers: Rick Glenn, Matthew Glenn, Eric Haskett, Danny Puryear, Ron McKelvy, Earnest Williams, Jr. A visitation will be held 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. on June 8, at Ringgold First Baptist Church, followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. with Rev.
