Chris Griggs

Chris Griggs, 53, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, with his wife at his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Griggs, mother, Mary Ellen Steele and sister Sherrie McNabb. He is survived by his wife, Melissa; sister, Rhonda (Philippe); brother, Ray (Carla); and several nieces and nephews. A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Tenn.,  Chris graduated from Lookout Valley High School and spent the last several years as owner of Parker’s Insurance Company in Trenton, Ga. Chris was a man of faith who was actively involved in church and had a heart for mentoring the young men of the church.  Chris had an enormous heart and love for people. He had a strong desire to ensure that everyone knew they were cared for and that they were taken care of. When he knew someone was hurting he called, when he knew they needed a friend he was there and when he knew there was a need he did whatever he could to help. In the last few years, his physical abilities were limited but it didn’t stop him from calling to check on countless people. Chris’s love and care for people was recently summed up during a recent church service, when a family friend shared this—Bro. Chris has been a lot of things to a lot of people.  He could be whatever you needed him to be.  He could be your little brother, big brother, son, son-in-law, friend, or father. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2019, at the Tiftonia Holiness Church, 163 Wauhatchie Pike with Troy Lawson and Edward Atchley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lake Hills Cemetery, Trenton, Ga. The family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Sunday at Tiftonia Holiness Church.
