Joseph Rehyansky

Joseph Andrew Rehyansky Jr. was born on August 6, 1946, in Irvington, New Jersey, and died on June 21, 2019, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He graduated from Parsons College in 1968, served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and graduated from the Cumberland School of Law in 1972; he then re-entered the Army as a career prosecutor in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Upon retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1990, he moved to Chattanooga, Tenn., where he served as a prosecutor in Bradley and Hamilton counties until his retirement in 2001. A prolific writer throughout his career, LTC Rehyansky published dozens of articles on historical and political topics for The National Review and The American Spectator, serving for a time as contributing editor to The National Review. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Katherine Heinrichs Rehyansky; his children Thomas Coleman Rehyansky and Mary Katherine Fortune; and four grandchildren. Services are private.
