Richard Ezell

Richard L. “Dick” Ezell passed away on March 13, 2019, at the age of 91. He was born in Lafayette, Ga., and was a longtime resident of Hixson, Tenn. He retired from the automobile business after 60 years. He was a longtime member of Calvary Bible Church. Dick was a veteran of WWII where he served in the U.S. Army as an MP. He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Hattie Ezell; his wife of 52 years, Martha Christine Ezell; and son-in-law, Howard Miller. He is survived by his children, Priscilla Miller of Reading, Pa., and Bill Powers Jr., of Athens, Ala.; as well as two grandsons and five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dick had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying, as well as fishing and golf. He was involved in local politics for many years. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and from 2 until 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. March 16, 2019, with Rev. Virgil Smith and Rev. John Mercer officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
