LENOIR CITY — Clarence Harvey Marr III (Buddy), 67, of Lenior City, TN, formerly of Richmond, Virginia, passed to his eternal rest on Saturday, March 2, 2019 after a recent battle with cancer. Buddy was born in Valdosta, GA to Clarence Harvey Marr, Jr. and Joyce Thomas Marr both from Chattanooga, TN. They were transferred to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware where Buddy grew up graduating from Caesar Rodney High School, and the University of Delaware. After graduating, Buddy was with the Dover Police Department for ten years then the Viginia Museum of Art in Richmond, Virginia from which he retired. Buddy enjoyed traveling in the US and abroad. He was an animal lover, avid reader and history buff. Cooking, gardening and tennis were activities he enjoyed as well. His rescue Scotties, Max and Katie Scarlett, were the loves of his life. Buddy was predeceased by his parents Clarence H. Marr, Jr. and Joyce Thomas Marr both of Chattanooga, TN; and grandparents Charles W. Thomas and Velma Tate Thomas, Chattanooga, TN; and Clarence H. Marr, Sr. and Lena Marr, Chattanooga, TN. Buddy is survived by his sister Karen Marr Smith (Max), Lenoir City, TN; Uncle Max Thomas (Sue), Hazel Green; AL; Aunts Dana T. Cross (Earnest), Chattanooga, TN; Dorothy Marr Carson, Houston, TX; Cousins Mike Thomas (Kerry), Hazel Green, AL; Rick Thomas (Donna), Arab, AL; Cathy Hertzing (Jeff), Houston, TX; Allen Carson. Also survived by his lifelong friend Harold Fitrer (and family), Henrico, VA; and friend Mike Sweeney, Johnson City, TN. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Conoordia of Loudon, TN, and Caris Hospice of Lenior City, TN for their compassionate care. Buddy was a Christian believer, a kind and caring man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
