Janet Lanter

Janet Vandergriff Lanter, 61, of Hixson, Tennessee is walking the streets of gold and meeting her Savior! What precious promises and peace we have in the midst of heart break. The song that gave her comfort over the past few weeks was "Victory in Jesus". Janet was a graduate of MTSU with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics, and has an MBA from Tusculum College. She was an educator for 20 years and was awarded for excellence by the Hamilton County School System. Janet was a member of various Baptist Churches where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She is preceded in death by her brother, David Vandergriff and twin grandsons, Owen and Hayden. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Rick H. Lanter; children, Rick S. (Brooke) Lanter and Ashley L. (Brandon) Miles ; five precious granddaughters, Aubrey, Hadley, Adelyn, Autumn Grace and Londyn; parents, Thomas R. and Betty Vandergriff; brother, Roger Vandergriff; sister, Cindy Coppage; parents-in-law, Harold and Betty Lanter; brothers-in-law, Mike, Greg and Jeff Lanter; numberous nieces, nephews and cousins. Janet’s favorite title was GeeGee and her favorite role was being a grandmother. She was a precious gem in this world and the world is a better place because of her life. We love you. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel with a Celebration of Life Service following immediately after at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jimmy Miles officiating.
