William Darity

TEXAS — William "Mark" Darity, born in Laurel, MS on April 4, 1962, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at his home in San Antonio, TX. Dedicating his life to the service of his country, Mark joined the Navy in March 1982. He served over 12 years of Sea Service on the USS Texas, USS Stephen W Groves, and the USS South Carolina.  He spent over two years of active service as a Navy Recruiter in San Antonio, TX where he retired after 23 years of service.  After retirement, he worked at Fort Sam Davis and FleetLogix. He loved to fish and hunt as well as playing Dominoes with friends and being a tech geek. Mark was preceded in death by his father Billy Eugene Darity, stepmother Vivian Darity and step father Carl Clarence Boles. He is survived by his mother, Patsy Boles; sisters, Vanessa (Ronnie) Nunley, and Karen Parks; brothers, DeWitt (Jeanel) Darity, and Kevin (Melinda) Darity;  nieces and nephews,  Matt (Courtney) Nunley, Christy Woodard, Jeremy, Jacob, and Jordann Parks, Luke and Jack Darity, Bud Darity, Billy Darity, and Meganne (Tristen) Stegall; 10 great nieces and nephews and many other loving family members. He was a good son, brother, and a great patriot. A memorial service will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery Monday, May 13, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Memorials may be sent to Gideon’s International in Mark’s name.
