Rev. James Jackson Lance, 79, a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at his residence surrounded by loved ones. James worked for 27 years at Chattanooga Glass Co. He then went on to spend 13 years working for the City of Chattanooga Public Works Department. James also spent 38 years serving the lord pastoring three different churches in the area. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph N. and Minnie Crawford Lance; and brother, D.H. Lance along with a number of other half brothers and sisters. James leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 57 years, Pat Lance; brother, Bobby (Barbara) Lance; sister, Louise Bailey. As well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church: 3070 Harrison Pike, Cleveland TN 37311. The celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. also at the church. Interment will be at Lee cemetery following the service. Rev. James Earl Helton and Rev. Earl Gentry will be officiating the service. James’ nephews will serve as pallbearers.
