Lois Runyan

Alma Lois Runyan, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away May 16, 2019, at Soddy Daisy Health Care Center. Born in Jackson County, Ala., May 28, 1931, to Lonnie Clabe Runyan and Nancy Forestine Henegar Runyan, Lois grew up around Bridgeport, Ala., Chattanooga, Tenn., and also lived in Oak Ridge, Tenn., for a year during World War II. Her family lived in Lookout Valley where Lois was active in the youth group and a lifelong member of Tiftonia Baptist Church. She graduated from Central High School in 1950 and worked at Kimball’s Printing and Engraving and in sales and secretarial jobs at Newton Chevrolet plus sold Avon products. Lois enjoyed family and friends, baking cakes for others and volunteering at Riverbend. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jean Runyan Collum. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Runyan (Earl) Carnahan, Hendersonville, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Nancy Collum, Ann Collum (Jeff) Badgley, David (Kim) Collum, all of Chattanooga; Bob (Kim) Carnahan, Lake Oswego, Ore.; Mary Carnahan (Ed) Sanders, Jasper, Ala.; and Susan Carnahan, Knoxville, Tenn.; 13 great-nieces and nephews; Emily Collum, Jacob (Erin) Collum, Matthew (Sara) Collum, Sarah Badgley Harbour, Seth Badgley, Hannah Badgley, Claire Badgley, Taylor Carnahan, Cole Carnahan, Parker Carnahan, Finn Carnahan, Ned Sanders, and Bonnie Sanders.  Services will be held Saturday, June 1, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens, East. Visit www.heritagechattanooga.com to share condolences to the family and view the memorial tribute.
