On Friday evening, May 24, 2019, Mr. Howard Fluellen, Jr, 91, transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home. He was a faithful member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the Deacon Board for many years. He was formerly a member of the Westside Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board and the transportation ministry. He retired from the Hamilton County School system, serving as a bus driver for many years; he eventually owned his own school bus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Fluellen; two sons, Nathaniel and Kenneth; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He leaves to cherish his memory three, sons, Jimmy (Jacqueline), Howard (Linda), and Melvin (Ann) Fluellen; daughter, Millenese Fluellen, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friend, Nora Huddleson. Mr. Fluellen will lie-in-state beginning at 12 noon Friday, May 31, 2019, at the funeral home, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, June 1, at Westside Baptist Church with Pastor Timothy Careathers officiating.
