Dolphus Reese, age 90, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019. Deacon Reese was born in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Lorena Reese and Squire Henderson Reese. Reese was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Lee Reese. He is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and moved to Chattanooga in 1950. Reese retired from Dixie Portland Flour Mills after many years. Deacon Reese had a love for Christ, family, his church family at Olivet Baptist Church and ministering to people about Christ. He was a remarkable teacher of the Bible which he shared for many years including the Sunday of his passing. Uncle Reese was a faithful member of Olivet Baptist Church for more than 60 years. He was a valued member of the Deacon Board, Sunday School, Hospitality and Evangelism ministries to name only a few. Uncle Reese also enjoyed cooking and was part of a bowling team for many years. Survivors are his faithful nephews Renodus (Shannon) Newman and Reginald Howell. Sisters; Mary Alice Houston, Annette Gilder, Willie EuJean Reese. Sisters in law; Tommy L Reese, Jimmie Howell, Patricia Howell and Jeanette Hill. Brothers in law; John and Eddie Howell. Nieces Josephine Reese and Lois Reese, nephew Kenny Reese and a host of other family members and friends from many different walks of life. Deceased sisters and brothers; Elnora Houston, Jenell Ayers, James Edward Reese, Cleophus Reese, Benny and Charles Reese. Service will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, noon at Olivet Baptist Church, with Bishop Kevin Adams officiating. Burial will be on Saturday Nov 9th at 9:30 am at National Cemetery. Body will lie in State after 12 noon on Thursday. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 6-7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home.
