Bertha Johnson

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Bertha Mae Johnson, 85, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, at her residence. Bertha was born Sept. 28, 1934, to Charlie Mapp and Annie Brown both of Chattanooga, Tenn. She was the youngest of three children. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Dillard Johnson; and her daughter Patricia Joyce Johnson-Eberhardt. Bertha was known throughout the Eastdale/Foxwood Heights Community as “Grandma and ”Mrs. J”. She was also known to many of her students throughout the City of Chattanooga as “Mrs. Southside.” There was never a dull moment with “Grandma”, “Mrs. J” or “Mrs. Southside.” Loving memories of Bertha Mae Johnson will be cherished by her four grandsons; Elmondo Eberhardt, of St. Louis, Mo., Antonio and (Dr. Bobby) Eberhardt-Taylor, of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Anthony Brown, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Yolanda (Rodney) Cameron, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; other relatives and dear friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
