Lamar Byrd

ROSSVILLE — Clyde Lamar Byrd, 86, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday September 5th, 2019 just two short weeks after losing his wife of 66 years, Billie. Lamar was a lifelong resident of Rossville and had been retired from the Post Office for many years. He attended Rossville High School where he was a great athlete and played all sports. He loved football and won a scholarship to Georgia Tech. Lamar loved spending time outdoors and vacationing with his family and friends; he was the best dad and granddaddy. Lamar was preceded in death by his wife Billie; parents, JT and Eva Byrd; and brothers-in-law, Bill Roberson and JC English. Lamar leaves behind his children, Tim Byrd and Sherry Kovacevich; grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Kovacevich, and Josh (Shawna) Byrd; great grandchildren, Maddox, Kylee, Aria, and Owen; four loving sisters, Rose English, Trilla Roberson, Carol Ann (Charles) Byrd, and Drucilla (Dave) Joyner; many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews. We will miss him greatly, but find comfort knowing that he is at peace in heaven with our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org. Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, September 10th at 11am in the South Crest Chapel. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
