Dr. Marvin L. Fowler, 83, of Harrison, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Dr. Fowler was called into the ministry in the early 1960’s and served as pastor at Salem Road Baptist (Rossville, GA) Temple Baptist (Athens, TN) Welcome Valley Baptist (Chattanooga) Beulah’s Chapel (Flatrock, AL) Mt. Olive Baptist (Rossville, GA) East Cleveland Baptist (Cleveland, TN) and Pleasant Hill Baptist (Chattanooga). He received his Doctorate of Ministry Degree from the Covington Theological Ministry. He is the son of the late Lee Fowler and Robbie Shahan and was preceded in death by his son and daughter in law, Donnie and Sheila Fowler; and brother, Ernie Fowler. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Goodner Fowler; daughters, Sharon (James Jr.) Hastings, Ider, AL and Christy Wimpee, Chattanooga; son, Greg Randall (Jaton) Fowler, Crossville, TN; three sisters, Robin Brubaker, Winterhaven, FL, Marlene Gentry, Wilmington, DE and Ginni Kizer, Lewes Beach, DE; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 29th at 2 pm in the chapel with Rev. George Ashburn, Rev. Fred Russell and Rev. Danny Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at McInturff Cemetery, Birchwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Rd., Suite 102, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
