Ollie Tate

WHITWELL - Ollie “ Bug” Tate age 96 passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020. She was a member of Whitwell First Baptist Church and she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy H. Tate; parents, Albert Lee & Maude Bell Griffith; son, Dennis Tate; sisters, Oma Griffith, Olus Scissom, Agnes Scissom, Avis Worley; brothers, Elbert Griffith, Arnold Griffith, Ottis Griffith and Issac Griffith. Bug continued going to church every Sunday morning and night and to Wednesday night Prayer Meeting after her husband died up until her health failed her. Even after her health prohibited her from going she would still study her Sunday School lesson every week and on Sunday morning when it was time for her class to meet she would get out her Bible and study book and read it again. It was once remarked to her that she lets her church interfere with her life and she quickly replied, “No, I do not let anything interfere with my Church”.

Those left to cherish her memories are her two sons, Lloyd Tate of Whitwell, Clark (Linda) Tate of Powell Crossroads; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Tate of Land O’Lakes, Florida; sisters, Martha Kilgore of Whitwell and Iva Levan of Griffith Creek; grandchildren, Audra (Thomas) Kennedy, Darin Tate, Francis Tate and Lloyd (Elise) Tate, II; great grandchildren, Shalyn Tate and Christopher Tate.

Graveside Service 10AM, CDT, Friday, April 10, 2020 at Griffith Creek Cemetery with Pastor Edward Griffith officiating.
