Thomas Boyd

Thomas Scott Boyd, 75, passed away at his home on August3, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helen Boyd, his son Matthew Boyd and his sister Sara Cashmir.

Tom was a native of Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College, The Ohio State University and Duke University. He moved to Chattanooga in 1974 after accepting a position teaching chemistry at The McCallie School, staying there until his retirement in 2011. He was passionate about McCallie, teaching chemistry, his students and working with his colleagues. Tom married his wife, Jacquelin Power Boyd, in 1978. Together they enjoyed wonderful vacations planned by Tom, creating memories that have lasted a lifetime.

In addition to his wife Jackie, Tom is survived by his brother Harry Boyd, wonderful nieces and nephews and his cherished in-laws, the Power family.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date when friends and family can safely gather.
