Amos “PeRunie” Copeny, Sr., 63, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at his residence. He received his equivalency diploma in May 18, 1993. He was employed with Trojan Labor as a construction worker. Amos was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mason; father, James Copeny; sister, Joycann Copeny; brothers, Oscar Mason, Clenton Mason, Jr., and James Copeny. Survivors include his son, Amos Copeny, Jr. of Chattanooga; brothers, Jerry Copeny and Dennis Copeny, both of Chattanooga, and Earl Fossis of Dallas, TX; sisters, Bernice Roberson, Janie Jones, and Brenda Johnson, all of Chattanooga; aunt, Glady Scruggs of Alabama; fiancée, Angela Ashely; stepsons, Andrew Ashley, Malikk Ashley, Devon Ashely, and Deshawn Ashely, all of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Pamela Billingsley; mother-in-law, Janice Witt; brother-in-law, Lovell Johnson; best friend, Christopher Tolbert; a host of nephews; aunts; uncles; other relatives and friends. He will lie-in-state on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the chapel with Pastor Ronald B. Cook, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial in Tyner Cemetery.
