Cecil Eugene Jenkins, 80, passed away on Thursday January 9, 2020. He was a veteran and served his country in the United States Army. Cecil graduated from Kirkman Technical High School. He went on to work as a foreman at Combustion, and then went on to teach machine shop at both Kirkman and Howard High Schools. He continued to work up to his passing at Chalmers and Kubeck South as a machinist. He loved teaching, he loved kids, especially his grandkids. Cecil enjoyed working as evidenced by the fact that he still did it at 80 years young. His love other than work was his El Camino. Cecil was a member of Abbas House in Hixson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Whit and Elizabeth Jenkins; brothers, Jimmy and Johnny Jenkins.
Left behind to cherish Cecil’s memory are his wife of 38 years, Cynthia, children, Cindy (Matt) Hauke; Craig Jenkins; Angela (Mike) Pryor; LaDonna Rider; and Chuck Vickery, grandchildren, Emily and Ben Hauke; Erik (Courtney) Rider; Ashleigh (Tracy) Trivette; Lindy (Steven) Sidelsky; Chad Pryor and Sandy Pryor; 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 sister, Mary Ann Adams, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Cecil’s Life will be held in the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Tuesday January 14, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Wayland Stewart officiating. He will be buried with military honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 95.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cecil’s memory to either the American Legion Post 95, 3329 Ringgold Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37412, or to the charity of your choice.
