Max Tankersley

TUNNEL HILL — Max Tankersley, 81, passed away on Saturday Jan. 18, 2019, under the care of local hospice. He is a member at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Max also served his country for 6 years in the Army National Guard.

Max was preceded in death by his parents Charles Tankersley, Essie Oxford; and son Toney Cooksey.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mrs. Peggy Tankersley; children Doug (Lori) Tankersley, Wayne (Lori) Tankersley, Janice Tankersley, Valorie (Chuck) Prewitt, David Cooksey, Marie Cooksey, Scott (Audrey) Cooksey, and Thomas (Cathy) Cooksey; sisters Faye Mullins, and Nina Oxford; brothers, Charles Tankersley, and Larry Tankersley. Also surviving

are 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday Jan. 22, 2020, at 1 p.m. in the Ringgold Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. James Langston officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens South. The family will receive friends on Tuesday Jan. 21, 2020, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Parlor of the Funeral Home.
