ROSSVILLE - William Wiley “Bud” Bell, Jr., age 89, went home to be with The Lord Tuesday – March 24, 2020. He was born in Gastonia, North Carolina to the late William Wiley Bell, Sr., and Julia E. Gill Bell. He served his country in the U.S. Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant. He was a former employee of Cramerton Mills and had also worked as a Grocer. He was a former resident of Cramerton, N.C., and had been a resident of Rossville since 1974. He was a former boxer and in 2000 was inducted into The North Carolina Boxing Hall of Fame. He was a former Legion Baseball Star. He had been an ordained Minister since 1967. He had Pastored several churches in North Carolina and the Northwest Georgia area. Bud was an avid door to door witness for The Lord and was the former Pastor of the trailer park ministry for the Northwest Georgia Baptist Association. He was a member of Peavine City Baptist Church in Rossville, Georgia. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters: Dorothy Hewitt, Laura Holland and Katherine Jackson and brother: Don Bell. Bud is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Grace Horton Bell, their children: William Wiley “Tony” Bell, III of Rossville, GA, Deanna (Teddy) Rogers of Ringgold, GA, Julie (Jon) Curtis of Franklin, TN, Billy Bell of Chickamauga, GA, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family will have a private visitation and a Celebration of Life service at a later date. Burial will take place in Chattanooga Veterans National Cemetery.
