Patricia Boles

Patricia “Pat” Boles, 84, a long-time resident of Signal Mountain, died peacefully in her home on Friday, April 16, 2021, of pulmonary fibrosis.

A native of Texas, she was born Patricia Jo Martin, the only child of Hazel Aylene (Cochran) and

Joe Jack Martin. Pat passed away less than ten months after the death of her husband of 61 years, Travis Herman Boles.

She is survived by three children, Martin Travis Boles of Knoxville, Leslie Patricia Walker (Richard) of Franklin, and Stephanie Alice Boles (Jesse Dienstag) of Wilmette, Illinois; and six grandchildren, Brittany and Emily Boles, Travis and Zachary Walker, and Samuel and Joseph Dienstag.

Pat was a graduate of both Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri and the University of Texas, where she majored in Drama Education. A

life-long performing arts enthusiast, Pat directed and acted in plays and musicals

all over the Chattanooga area. She and Travis often worked together in the

theater, occasionally accompanied by other family members. Pat also enjoyed singing in her church choir, and she loved to dance. For 62 years Pat was an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, an international women’s philanthropic

educational organization. She was honored to have served as president of the

executive board of P.E.O.’s Tennessee state chapter in 1997-98. Pat cherished

her family and friendships, and she treasured holidays and celebrations. She

adored chocolate and cats, as well as playing bridge and watching football.

Together with Travis, she loved traveling all over the world and annually to

Florida for family beach vacations. These gatherings were an important part of

Pat and Travis’s life, and at their request, their ashes will be scattered in the Gulf

of Mexico. Pat’s family would like to thank her caregivers, especially Riely, for

their tireless devotion, as well as Nurse Jessie and everyone at Hospice of

Chattanooga.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 12:00 noon, at Signal Crest United Methodist Church, 1005 Ridgeway Ave.,

Signal Mountain, with masks and social distancing required.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Signal Mountain Playhouse, www.smph.org, (423) 763-7219, or to any educational project of the P.E.O.
