Doris Walker

Doris Moody Walker, 96, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at her home on July 30, 2021. Born April 5, 1925, in Falling Water, Tenn., she was the youngest and last surviving of nine children of Adam and Sarah Johnson Moody. She lived all but 11

years of her life in Falling Water. She was a member of Falling Water Baptist Church.

Doris was a former employee of Davenport Hosiery Mill (also playing on the mills

“Hummingbirds” ball team), and retired from the Hixson Post Office where she was a

Rural Letter Carrier and later a distribution and window clerk for many years. She enjoyed working on her flowers and feeding the birds around her house, especially the

hummingbirds. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and sisters, several nieces and nephews, and her husband, James R. Walker who was killed in a plane crash in 1959. She

never remarried.

She is survived by her two sons, James (Charline) Walker, David (Linda) Walker, 5 grandchildren, Jimmy (Janice) Walker, Jennifer Abigail Walker, Josh (Sarah) Walker, Jason Walker and Adam Walker, as well as, two great-grandchildren, Jenny Lou Walker

and Jack Walker.

Special thank you to Kindred Home Health and Avalon Hospice (Christy, Astrid, Mo and others I cannot remember) and a very special heartfelt thank you to Jaye Smith who made

this very difficult time much better for our mom and us.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Chattanooga Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Love officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Monroe Carol

Children’s Hospital in Nashville or Falling Water Baptist Church.
