Blair Allen

CLEVELAND - Mrs. Blair “Suzanne” Cunnyngham Allen, age 79, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 in Murfreesboro, TN. She was able to celebrate Thanksgiving with most of her family. The daughter of Blair and Mary Frances Cunnyngham, Suzanne was a proud graduate of Bradley Central High School where she was elected Miss Bradley and served as Editor of the yearbook. Her affinity with her classmates remained strong throughout her life and she served many years on the BCHS Class of 1960's reunion committee. She was briefly married to Gary Allen and in 1965 gave birth to her only child, Lee Anne. She struggled as a single parent, but never let that stand in the way of being a wonderful Mom. Her career path took her into the legal profession where she enjoyed working as a legal secretary for Pam O'Dwyer, Jimmy Logan and Bert (Joanne) Bates. When not working, Suzanne enjoyed books, movies, and Bob Dylan. She will be remembered for her many theatrical roles with the KC Players and at Cleveland State Community College, especially as Ethel Thayer in On Golden Pond opposite her beloved John Bradley.

Then in 1990, she got the role of a lifetime- grandmother! Suzanne was a natural as Mom-Maw. From sharing her love of crossword puzzles, to planning her many trips with Addie and Chad, to watching Mitchell sing and dance on stage, to fulfilling every birthday wish, to being grandmother of the bride, she savored every second with her Peep and Mitchy Mouse.

She treasured her many trips with "the girls" and loved her cats. Her home was always accepting and loving. And she made the best baked beans ever!

Suzanne is survived by daughter Lee Anne (John) Carmack; grandchildren Addie (Austin) Chandler, Mitchell Carmack, Aaron (Michelle) Carmack; great grandson, Andrew Carmack; nieces, Camille McGill and Julie Brown; great nephews Kyle Cronan and Clayton McGill; great niece, Lillie Brown; and cherished friends Judy Davis, Perry Skates, and Dana Pickens.

A memorial service will be planned for Spring when it is much warmer.
