Rex Helton

Rex Clark Helton went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 30, 2021. He was 59.

A native of Rockwood, Tenn., Rex graduated from Harriman High School. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering in 1986 from Tennessee Technological University. He was a 39-year employee of TVA, serving as a senior program manager.

Rex served many years as a deacon and youth Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church, Chattanooga. He was a dedicated leader and mentor of youth, faithfully teaching God’s word and enjoying fun with his students. He was known for his competitive and joyful spirit.

Rex was a devoted family man, supporting his wife, Laura, and his daughter, Haley, in their interests

and activities. He and Laura enjoyed a happy marriage for 32 years. He was an avid golfer and his favorite days on the course were with his daughter, Haley.

Rex was preceded in death by his father, Shirley Helton.

Additional survivors include his mother, Sandra Helton; three sisters, Beverly Kelley, Michelle

Kibitleski, and Melissa Morton; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home and Friday, Dec. 10, at First Baptist Church, 401 Gateway Ave., from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. A celebration of life

service will begin at 1 p.m. at the church.
