Mel White
RINGGOLD — Melville “Mel” “Paps” Eugene White, 94, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at his residence.
A lifelong resident
of the Ringgold area, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during W.W.II and a member of Clearview Baptist Church. He was a saw-miller for over 30 years, and a former employee of Sweetwater Rug where he worked for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Carter White; son, Stan White; parents, David Harvey and Ida Louise Longwith White; two sisters, Pauline Bridges and Mildred Brown; and two brothers, Kenneth White and Buck White.
He is survived by his son, Donald White of Ringgold, Ga.; two
grandchildren, Greg White and Lindsey (Eric) Hughes; four great grandchildren, Autumn White, Abigail White, Madyson Hughes and Skylar Hughes; three great-great grandchildren, Rylan, Kolsen and Amaurie; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held
2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, at New Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
