Rhonda Gilley

Rhonda Gail Lumpkin Cornelius Gilley, 68, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on Dec. 30, 2020, peacefully in her sleep.

Rhonda was born to RV Lumpkin and Nora Vida Gay Newell Lumpkin in 1952 in Birmingham, AL. She grew up in Austin, TX and enjoyed spending time with her friends and was a twirler in the marching band. She loved spending time in her Daddy's garage which served as a playroom for her and her friends, and later her children and nephews. After graduating from Reagan High School in Austin, TX, she pursued her childhood goal of becoming a Registered Nurse by studying and graduating from Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing in Austin.

After graduation, she served successfully as a staff nurse, nurse manager, and a legal nurse consultant for more than 20 years in and around Austin, TX.

Rhonda enjoyed dancing, twirling, reading, and writing. She was courageous, loving, and always dedicated to her children. She was admired for her fierce independence and intellect.

Rhonda was predeceased by her parents, RV and Nora Vida Gay; brother, Randy Dale Lumpkin.

She is survived by her husband Alan Nathan Gilley; children Shauna (Axel) Borrero, Dennis Shane (Sabrina) Cornelius, Alan (Rachel) Gilley; sister-in-law Kay Lumpkin; grandson Kameron Cornelius (Anna) Cornelius; great-grandchild Lucas.
