Wilburn Wimpy

RINGGOLD — Wilburn “Wib” Lee Wimpy, 100, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2021.

A native of the Ringgold area, he lived several years in

Wyandotte, Michigan and then moved back to Ringgold in 1978. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during W.W. II, and was a retired employee of General Motors in Michigan. Wib was a lifetime member of the Quitman Masonic Lodge, the VFW and the American Legion Post 40.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jones Wimpy; parents, Joseph and Alice Dickson Wimpy; daughter, Brenda Borza; and six siblings.

He is survived by two children, Sharon Wimpy of Wyandotte, MI., and Gary Wimpy of Ringgold, GA.; two

sisters, Edna Castleman of Lincoln Park, MI. and Eloise Korte of Gibraltar, MI..; five grandchildren, Ron (Betty) Borza, Gino (Shari) Borza, Dino Borza, Brian (Beth) Wimpy and Ashley (Sebastian Payne) Wimpy; eight great grandchildren, Evan Wimpy, Tyler (Jacqueline) Wimpy, Corbin Wimpy, Airyn Wimpy, Olivia Wimpy, Valerie (Gregg) Phelps, Mario Borza, and Deena (Tyler) Sheets; five great great-grandchildren, Zia Phelps, Lila Phelps, Penelope Wimpy, Eleanor Wimpy and Ella Borza; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2021 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Dunagan Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until funeral time Friday at the funeral home.
