Betty Gooden

Betty Sue (Finn) Gooden, born July 13th, 1938, went home to be with the Lord on July 17th, 2021.

She will always be remembered as the light of all our lives. Nana was an avid gardener, expert chef and full time mom to the whole neighborhood. She was always genuinely happy and kept a smile with her everywhere she went. Nana loved to tell us stories about her parents, Nolan and Ollie Finn, and her sister, Barbara Pell. Her favorite stories typically involved her son, Joseph Gooden, and pranks they pulled on her husband, Joe. Altogether, they were an amazing family full of love and kindness. Nana and her cornbread were the actual glue that held the family together and both of them will be missed dearly. We will miss her sense of humor and her infectious laugh, her over the top Christmas decorations, and her ability to fix everything with food and a hug.

She was a member of Middle Valley Baptist Church for over 40 years and was a devout Christian woman. Nana was a picture perfect daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother and we were blessed to have her in our lives.

Survivors include her grandson, Nicholas Gooden and her loving cousin, Regina McBryar.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 24, 2021 in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30 A.M til 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
